The Canada Media Fund (CMF) announced, at the Banff World Media Festival, the release of two new research projects. As a catalyst for the Canadian television and digital media industry, the CMF creates, aggregates and disseminates meaningful industry intelligence to assist in its policy decisions and to provide information to its partners and stakeholders. The new publications announced today, provide new perspectives on the convergence of television and connected platforms and the state of financing of the interactive media sector in Canada.
The first research project, New Directions for the Financing of Interactive Digital Media in Canada published by the Canadian interactive ALLIANCE interactive canadienne (CIAIC) with research by MDR, examines the state of financing of digital media in Canada and the effectiveness of financial mechanisms, including those from the private sector. This extensive research is the result of a partnership with Ontario Media Development Corporation, and the assistance of Bell Broadcast and New Media Fund, Department of Canadian Heritage, National Film Board and the Canadian Media Production Association.
The second, The ABCs of Connected TV published by Groupe Evolumedia, is a streamlined synthesis of connected TV’s technological and economic evolution over the last few years. It is based on the most advanced innovations and business models currently on the market. This report, available in English and in French, is intended for media content producers in the film, television and advertising industries regarding the Web, social networks and mobile markets.
