LBH was founded nearly a decade ago when Mark Lewis, Eric Birnberg and Richard Hanet decided to join forces and launch a specialized boutique law firm that uniquely combined the regulatory and business aspects of media law with the full range of business and legal affairs aspects of entertainment law.
Lewis, Birnberg and Hanet shared a common belief that, with their diverse and extensive experience, they could offer a wide array of legal services, well outside the norm for boutique entertainment firms in Toronto. Mark has an extensive background in media and communications law dating back over 35 years, and has previously worked as legal counsel to the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) and acted as the national coordinator for his practice group as a partner at one of Canada’s leading national law firms. Eric has been a leading production and distribution lawyer for more than 20 years after first joining Atlantis Communications and later helping to guide Atlantis through the merger to form Alliance Atlantis. Eric also worked in-house with a leading Canadian broadcaster and prior to that practiced securities and corporate law on Bay Street with both private and public companies. Richard, a well-known entertainment lawyer, held a senior legal position at Alliance Atlantis where he specialized in factual television and documentary content. Prior to Alliance Richard practised franchise law (including merchandising, distribution, and commercial real estate) as both a solicitor and litigator.
LBH has expanded over the years to include four associates and a corporate paralegal, and looks forward to its continued growth while effectively meeting their clients’ needs.
